The Skip Hop Forma vastly outperformed the other value and lower priced diaper bags that I considered for this review. The Forma’s size is comparable to the Meta whereas both the other best diaper bags, the Dagne Dover Indi and the Béis backpack diaper bag were less lightweight and could also hold more. The Meta weighs a pound more than the Skip Hop, but the Meta also appeared to be a bit more durable and aesthetically pleasing. This Skip Hop bag cleans easily, is lightweight and stylish, just as the Meta is. I thought the Skip Hop Forma came in a really close second to the overall best diaper bag pick, the Petunia Pickle Bottom Meta. How Does The Skip Hop Forma Compare To Other Diaper Bags? My husband also said he’d happily wear the bag. Because of the neutral design and modern aesthetic, I also felt comfortable taking it along to my doctor’s appointment. The nylon top handle allowed for easy carrying and didn’t dig into my fingers. It accompanied us to school drop-off and pickup, as well as to a pilates class and on a walk with our rambunctious dog. The padded straps on this diaper bag backpack felt nice and cushiony and because the bag was so lightweight I had no problem carrying it around all day. The Forma also includes a changing mat, and although it wasn’t as compact or well-made as some of the other options, it certainly functions just fine. The stroller straps on our best diaper bag overall, the Petunia Pickle Bottom Meta, must be purchased separately. Attached stroller straps mean there’s one less thing to worry about forgetting. While my memory is pretty poor these days, it was even worse during pregnancy and the first year of my son’s life (hello, extreme sleep deprivation). The attached stroller straps came in super handy, because I noticed that I kept misplacing the detached ones in other bags or forgetting where I put them. A Comfortable, Affordable Diaper Bag With Perksĭespite its lower cost, the Skip Hop Forma was more than comfortable to carry all day and it came with unexpected extras like the packing cubes and attached stroller straps. The crumbs took a few more shakes to come out than with some of the other bags, but overall, this bag is extremely low maintenance. When I checked the bag in the morning, there was a little residue from the pouch, but it came off immediately when I wiped it with a damp towel. Because the fabric of this Skip Hop bag is water-resistant, the water rolled off immediately and even the pouch dripped off the bag instead of sitting stagnant on its surface. I sprinkled chip and cracker crumbs on the interiors to see how easily they could be removed. In the interest of testing the diaper bags in a fashion truly representative of daily parenting, I spilled water and a blueberry puree on each bag and left it overnight to see how easy it would be to clean off. The Skip Hop bag also proved one of the easiest diaper bags to clean thanks in part to its quilted polyester exterior. Lex Goodman For Forbes Made Of Stain-Resistant And Easy-To-Clean Materials The Skip Hop Forma diaper bag was comfortable to carry and held more than expected. The front pocket has a little pouch for a phone and fit my wallet, phone, personal items and a snack bar easily. As someone who did formula feed, I think this would have alleviated some of the stress over whether or not I’d have a warm bottle ready for my baby while out and about. The bottle left in the Skip Hop Forma had the smallest temperature deviation of all of the bags, dropping 16.2 degrees. In an effort to determine how well this insulated packing cube worked, I recorded the temperature of the hot water and then tested it again after two hours. The other is an insulated version, which I filled with a pouch and a baby bottle full of hot water. I packed the mesh one with all of my son’s toys and some snacks. I never knew how convenient packing cubes could be in a diaper bag until testing out the Forma. I appreciated the large exterior water bottle holders on either side, as well as the two zippered pockets, one of which contained two packing cubes. (See the full contents of my testing kit below.) Instead, I was happily surprised when the Forma measuring just 8 inches wide and a mere 1.4 pounds (the lightest bag I tested) easily fit my testing kit while remaining comfortable to carry. At first glance, the bag looked too compact to fit all of my testing gear, which I admit was extensive.
